We are pleased to announce that CHCC retained it’s Clubmark status this year, this is an ECB accreditation, which demonstrates that the club it is a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages, as well as assuring parents and carers that they are choosing the right option for their young people. The review covers everything in the club, from the constitution, through finances to coaching and development plans.

Safeguarding team
I wanted to introduce myself. I took up the role as lead safeguarding officer for CHCC last season. My day to day job centres around children and young people with special educational needs – working with their families, schools and other agencies, and I am very familiar with safeguarding and welfare issues.
I have two sons who play for CHCC. My youngest has a passion for cricket- has progressed through the juniors into the senior teams, and my eldest has recently joined and has felt very much at home.
I am committed to ensuring that the club is a welcoming, safe, friendly and inclusive environment for children and young people. We make sure all volunteers / coaches are appropriately vetted and that appropriate safeguarding policies and procedures are in place and adhered to. I have recently updated the policy documents and would be very grateful if you could familiarise yourself with the Code of Conduct in particular. Please don’t be offended if you are asked to put your dog on a lead or move your little ones from playing inside the boundary rope during training sessions.
I am keen that all children / young people feel a sense of belonging, and enjoy their time at the club, both during training and matches, regardless of their ability level.
If your child has any special needs we will make every effort to accommodate them. Please feel free to discuss this with me.
In addition, I want the children to feel able to raise any issues with us, and for them to feel the safeguarding officers are trusted adults. Sue Gouldson and I are now wearing pink lanyards with ID badges. Please can you point this out to your children and come and say hi?
