Junior training is on a Friday night 6:00pm-7:30pm, starting mid-April and continuing until mid-September, when the weather gets colder and the nights are darker.

Home matches will usually be on the following nights:
– Monday: U13 Mixed, U11 Mixed (team 1), U9 Mixed, U11 Girls
– Tuesday: U9 Girls & U11 Mixed (team 2)
– Thursday: U15 Mixed
Evening matches generally start at c.6pm, please arrive 15 minutes early to warm up / pad up.

The U17s (and selected U15) train on a Thursday alongside the adult training (from 6:00pm-7:30pm).

The day of away matches will vary. Your team manager will keep you up to date with the match scheduling via your team Whatsapp group.

What equipment do we need?

  • U9 teams, U11/U13 girls play soft ball cricket. Players bat and bowl in pairs for 4 overs (regardless of whether they are out) which gives everyone a fair go.
  • U11 mixed team and U13 girls team play the same match format but with a harder ball, requiring more protective equipment.
  • U13+ play hard ball cricket in 20 over matches.

For soft ball cricket, all you need is a bat! For hard ball cricket, you will need bat, pads, gloves, helmet, abdominal guard.

What to wear:  For match days, cricket whites are preferred for the mixed teams (you can purchase branded CHCC clothing from the Shop on our website) but to start with a white t-shirt and some tracksuit bottoms are ok.  The girls teams play matches in the CHCC burgundy shirts (or other burgundy top) and black leggings or tracksuit bottoms.

If you have any questions on kit, please speak to your team manager or one of the coaching team.

We realise this can be quite expensive, so we offer a kit swap service or you can borrow from other players whilst you build up your kit gradually. There are a number of places to buy kit locally. Ebay is an excellent source, Decathlon, Jim Hall Sports in Bramhall and Total Cricket in Ashton are all good choices.
