Results Round-up – 4th May

After the disappointing washout last week we were back in action this week.

The 1st XI travelled to Weaverham looking to pick up their first win of the season and they completed it in style. After the initial cautious start Chris Taylor and Humayun Khalid put on 123 for the 3rd wicket which saw us post 206-6 in our 45 overs. Chris who is sponsored by The John Millington top scored with 77 and Humayun who is sponsored by Jalfrezi Bramhall scored 66. Scott Howarth and Nauman Akram who are sponsored by LeasingOptions.co.uk and Theknee.expert opened the bowling and tore through the Weaverham top order to reduce them to 3/4. Scott finished with 6/15 and Nauman with 4/19 as Weaverham were bowled out for 61 which meant we picked up the full 25 points for the victory and are currently 2nd in the table.

Our 2nd XI were at home to Bollington and were looking to follow up their comprehensive victory in the first match. Bolington won the toss and opted to field and after 20 overs this looked like a good decision as we were 54/5. Paul Brogan who is sponsored by SCZ Electrical Servicesand Chris Beckley who is sponsored by Spectra shared a fantasic 168 run partnership which saw Paul score his first 100 off 72 balls which included 6 sixes. Chris finished on 82 not out as we amassed 260/8 in our 50 overs. Stu Wilson bowled well early on picking up 3 wickets and he was supported by Rhys Collister who bowled very impressively on his 2nd team debut ending with figures of 3/25 in 9 overs. Bollington never looked like they were going to get anywhere near the total and ended on 146/8 from their 50 overs which saw us pick up 14 points.

The 3rd XI travelled to Middlewich to take on their 2nd XI, Middlewich batted first and scored 195/7 off their 45 overs with Rhys Mazey who is sponsored by Bathroom Project Ltd taking 3 wickets and George Robinson who is sponsored by Dawn Creative taking 4 wickets. In reply we scored 148 with Asif Malik scoring 33, sharing a good partnership with George who scored 23. Asif is sponsored by Valli Opticians. Unfortunately a few late wickets saw us lose by 47 runs.
