Our grounds project began a few years ago when we applied for funding from Sport England to improve the drainage of Grove Park due to problems with standing water on the outfield when there was a period of heavy rain. The work began after the end of the 2017 season, the grass was dug up and 50+ tonnes of soil were added to level the outfield. Along with this, new drainage was installed which has massively improved the quality of our outfield.
Duncan Ross, the appointed contractor, have now returned to complete the remaining work which will aid the draining process. “Sand slits” have now been added by digging thin trenches and inserting over 20 tonnes of sand into the slits. The ground was then vertidrained and seed was added with fertiliser to promote grass growth.
We’d like to thank Duncan Ross for all their hard work over the course of the last few seasons and also Sport England for making the project possible with their generous grant.
