We are aiming to install a three lane all weather net practice facility at Grove Park which will cost £50,000. We have so far secured funding from Sport England in the form of a £10,000 grant and are now aiming to raise a further £7,500 through our members via Crowdfunding to add to money we have already saved. The remaining funding will be sourced by further grants and an ECB loan.
Why do we need a new facility?
Our current cricket practice net facility at the club has been put to very good use in the past in training our players as they have sought to improve their cricketing skills and abilities over many years. The frequent use of our facility has seen the condition of the nets deteriorate to the extent that one of the nets is no longer usable and the surface of the other net is near the end of its useful life.
Due to the recent success we have had in attracting junior players, the net facilities we currently have are not able to cope with the demand for their use and are not in a safe condition. It is proving increasingly difficult to manage coaching sessions which allow players to practice their batting and bowling without risking injury.
What are we looking to build?
We are looking to build a three lane net facility in the same location as our current nets which will also be enclosed to ensure they can be used safely at any time. Below is an artist’s impression of the enclosed facility which will have a secure entrance door and a floor colouring specifically designed to meet all our practice needs.
Each practice net wicket will be pitch coloured and will feature training markings designed to aid coaching and player development. The surrounding surface will be coloured blue as shown in the plan view. This will ensure that the needs of all users can be met including those with visual impairments following our partnership with the Cheshire Cobras Visually Impaired Cricket Club.
