Bobby Ferguson’s fake ID
DETROIT Bobby Ferguson, under the alias “Antonio Julian Cortez Talley,”obtained a fake driver’s license from the Secretary of State in 1999, the federal government says.
This is one of several reasons the government offers in a March 28 court filing requesting Ferguson’s motion for release from prison pending sentencing in the Kwame Kilpatrick corruption trial be denied.
His sentencing could be months away. Ferguson currently resides in a federal prison in Milan with friend and co convict Kwame Kilpatrick.
The recent discovery by the federal government that Ferguson obtained a fraudulent ID they called “alarming.”
In an exhibit, prosecutors presented proof that Ferguson obtained a driver’s license under an alias in 1999.
On the driver’s license that expired July 4, fake id online 2002, he’s listed as 5 foot 11 inches with hazel eyes. The most recent ID issued under his legal name lists the felon as 5 foot 10 inches tall with brown eyes.
“The address stated on the license is 6328 Julian Street, Detroit, Michigan,” says the prosecution’s response to the bond motion. where Ferguson’s mother lives, idgod the filing says.
The county’s district court is closed on Wednesdays and could not be reached by MLive for confirmation.
The government claims the false ID is clear evidence that Ferguson intended to commit fraud and “operate under a fictitious identity” in the past.
“The fact that (Ferguson) was able to obtain a government document in a false identity shows that he can do so again and that he epitomizes a flight risk,” the prosecution’s response to the bond motion says. “Additionally, it is unknown what other documents (Ferguson) may currently possess under the name ‘Antonio Cortez Julian Talley’ or other illegitimate aliases.”
Ferguson offered five homes as collateral for his release. In a court response filed by Ferguson’s attorney, Gerald Evelyn who has requested to be removed as Ferguson’s counsel the attorney argued his client cannot adequately seek out and hire a new attorney while confined in the detention center.
Ferguson, separate from the Kilpatrick trial, Fake ID has a “complicated” trial forthcoming, Evelyn said. The trial is related to charges of bid collusion and fraud stemming from the Garden View housing development project.
